Botox at Clinique Medspa

Our Approach

If you’re looking for a proven way to reduce fine lines, soften wrinkles, and reclaim a more youthful look, Botox® injections are one of the most effective and trusted aesthetic treatments available today.

At Clinique Medspa, Dr. Brazelia Lazzari and her team offer the best Botox in South Florida, with each treatment designed to enhance your natural beauty without overdoing it. The experienced injectors at Clinique Medspa combine medical precision with a deep understanding of facial anatomy to ensure every treatment is tailored, subtle, and sophisticated.

What Is Botox and How Does It Work?

Botox is a purified form of botulinum toxin type A, a neuromodulator that temporarily relaxes targeted muscles. It’s FDA-approved for both cosmetic and medical uses. When injected into specific facial muscles, Botox smooths out dynamic wrinkles: the lines that form from repetitive facial expressions like frowning, squinting, or smiling.

Common treatment areas include:

  • Frown line
  • Forehead lines  (the “11s” between the brows)
  • Crow’s feet (around the eyes)
  • Bunny lines (on the nose)
  • Lip lines and gummy smiles
  • Chin dimpling
  • Jawline slimming (masseter reduction)

Specifically, the Botulinum toxin works by preventing the release of acetylcholine. Acetylcholine is a critical neurotransmitter, a chemical messenger that is stored in vesicles within the nerve endings. When a nerve impulse arrives, it normally signals these vesicles to fuse with the nerve cell membrane and release acetylcholine into the junction. Acetylcholine then binds to receptors on the muscle fiber, causing the muscle to contract.

Understanding Treatment: Units, Dosing, and Personalization

Botox is measured in “units”. A unit is a standard measure of biological activity, ensuring consistency across treatments. Unlike a one-size-fits-all approach, the number of units required for a treatment is highly individualized and depends on several factors:

Muscle Strength: Individuals with stronger facial muscles (often men or very expressive people) require more units to achieve the desired level of relaxation.

Treatment Area and Goal: Different areas of the face require different average doses. For example, frown lines typically require more units than crow’s feet. The patient’s goal—whether to achieve complete stillness or a softer, more dynamic result—will also influence the dosage.

Metabolism: How quickly a patient’s body processes the neurotoxin affects the duration of the effects and, thus, the frequency of maintenance treatments.

During your personalized consultation at Clinique Medspa, Dr. Brazelia Lazzari and her team carefully assess your facial anatomy, muscle mass, and desired outcomes to create a customized treatment map. This map dictates the precise number of units and injection sites, which is the key to delivering subtle, natural-looking results that avoid a “frozen” appearance.

Preparation Checklist (Pre-Treatment)

The primary goal of preparation is to minimize the risk of bruising at the injection site:

  • Medication and Supplement Avoidance: For 24–48 hours before your appointment, avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements. This includes alcohol, aspirin, Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen, and high-dose Vitamin E and fish oil supplements. If you are on prescription blood thinners, you must consult with your prescribing physician before stopping any medication.

  • Clean Skin: Arrive at Clinique Medspa with a clean face, free of makeup or heavy creams. This allows the injector to map the muscle structure accurately, reducing the risk of infection.

  • Full Disclosure: Inform us of any recent or planned procedures (e.g., chemical peels, microdermabrasion), or any medications, allergies, or health conditions.

Aftercare Instructions (Post-Treatment)

Adhering to post-care guidelines is essential for ensuring the product settles correctly and for maximizing the duration of your results:

  • Immediate Activity Restriction (4–6 Hours): Avoid lying down, bending over, or engaging in strenuous exercise for at least 4–6 hours post-injection. This prevents pressure or movement that could cause the product to migrate to an unintended muscle.

  • No Touching or Pressure: Do not massage, rub, or apply excessive pressure to the treated area for 24 hours. When cleansing your face, be gentle.

  • Avoid Heat: For 24 hours, avoid exposure to heat, including hot tubs, saunas, steam rooms, and intense sun exposure. Heat can increase swelling or redness.

Facial Expressions: While not strictly necessary, some injectors advise patients to gently exercise the treated muscles (e.g., frowning and raising eyebrows) for the first hour. This is believed by some to help the neuromodulator bind more efficiently to the muscle receptors.
